Small Meadow

Raphe settled under a shady tree that blocked the light and steaming sun from his pelt and eyes. He looked off and out at the small meadow. He wondered how a small meadow like this even existed in this thick forest. Raphe layed his head down and stared off into the distance, not aware of his surroundings or if someone approached him.

"Enjoying yourself?" Iriesh asked as she approached from behind. Today was obviously a good day for her, her paw steps were light and her voice for once had no edge to it. Not to mention she was interacting with others, speaking and taking the time to be around them.

Raphe's head shot up, along with his body to welcome the alpha, head bowed, ears and tail tucked. "Y-- yes, alpha." He avoided eye contact and got nervous about what to say. He was scared he'd do something wrong so he remained quiet until given permission to speak or if he was talked to.

"No need for that today. Today feels like a good day, a day that i may enjoy as well." Ireish smiled slightly and she sat down.

Raphe slowly raised himself from his crouch. He nodded and sat down again. Things were getting awkward; he didn't have anything to talk about. So he looked up and whispered something along the lines of wanting to be able to run as fast as an eagle could fly. About wanting to be the best hunter in the forest.

Iriesh looked at him, her ears twitched as her sensitive ears picking up what he said, "You you want to be the best hunter in the forest?"

Raphe blushed and looked at her, a shocked expression feeding his face. "Ye-Yeah. Is that bad?" He asked, lowering his head to the ground.

Iriesh shook her head, "It's never bad to want to be the best. It's only bad if you give up your dream. My dream was impossible though, and even so i still regret giving it up."

"Oh...Well, why don't you try picking it up again? It's never too late to go for a set goal."

"Because, even if i wanted to, i couldn't. My dream was to make my family see that i am not a monster. But no matter what i did, they saw me for my demonic eye and deemed me a monster. Once they got the chance they abandoned me. But i followed them trying and trying to get them to open their eyes. After i gave up, i found this territory and claimed it as my own. I have no idea where my family is." Iriesh sighed, "It is a foolish dream i know, and that is why i rarely speak of it. I fear the judgment my pack may throw upon me for this soft bellied dream of mine."

Raphe huffed. "Well at least you remember your family...I don't remember what my father or mother looked like, or if I had any siblings. But anyway, I don't think it's a bad dream." He sighed, digging at the ground with his claw.

"Sometimes i wish i had that blessing, well, only a blessing to me." Iriesh laid down, "But enough of that, it is just another memory to make my heart ache all the more. Today is supposed to be good, it has that feeling to it."

"Really?" Raphe stood up, "It feels like a good day to hunt for me." He sniffed the air once before immediatly picking up deer scent. "Would you like to join me?" He started walking towards the scent.

Iriesh stood up, "I would love to."

Raphe smiled and started running to the spot where he smelled deer. He crouched and started stalking a weakling he spotted.

Iriesh followed at the same pace the whole time, she was curious of Raphe's hunting techniques and wanted to see him in action. She would only step in if she knew he needed help.

Raphe swirled around the deer, blocking it off from the rest of the pack, pushing it near the meadow. He stalked closer, stopping only when the deer looked up. As he neared the buck, he sprang, making sure to keep as quiet as possible in the air. The buck was still chomping on the grass, not noticing Raphe in the air. He slammed down onto his back, claws ripping into his hind, scraping them down his legs and making sure to rip the tendons of the deer's hing legs. It struggled to run, calling out a warning, but Raphe was too quick for it. He clamped his jaw around the buck's nose, suffocating it slowly.

Iriesh had been watching silently, "Very well, you can take down a buck without any help."

"Oh, um." Raphe got up from the deer after it had been stilled, and waited for Iriesh to come and join him. "i've been hunting ever since I was 5 months. So I learned a few tricks..."

"Hmm, i know how that feels." She stood up and padded over to the deer.

Dagik headed through the trees silently, settling his eyes on the grass ahead. The wind lifted his fur and he shuddered, catching the attracting scent of deer...and blood. He glanced around, then secretly trotted quickly toward the scent. As he edged around a pine tree he fixed his eyes on his alpha, a strange wolf, and a deer. He took one pace back and hesitated. He was curious of the wolf but considered his respect to the alpha, and giving her space. He was too far to hear anything, and almost positive they couldn't hear him. He lifted his nose casually to catching passing smells, while waiting nervously for something to happen. His ears fixed steadily on the two hunters, and the hunted.

Raphe licked his paw and lay down in the grass, rolling over slightly in the sweet-smelling flowers. "Ah, I just love flowers~" He rolled over to his stomach and sniffed a few in front of him
